Hey guys-

I've been looking for a good chat solution that worked with us, and I think I finally found one that should be acceptable to you all.

The new service is hosted externally by a service recommended to us by MjrNuT (thanks much!), which doesn't have much in the way of ads or restrictions, and is free- which I like

The only downside is that you must register with the service using a username that nobody else has. If this proves to be too annoying, then we can work on getting something else. But for now, let's give it a shot, yeah?

Hi guys-

You may have noticed the downtime we had earlier today. It was a bit hard to miss.

Essentially, my hosting company pulled the plug on the forums due to the shoutbox causing dangerous amounts of load on the server. They set the file to be unaccessible and uneditable and I was unable to do anything without their reenabling of the file. This took a bit longer than expected. We should be up for good now, assuming they don't pull us again.

Unfortunately, this means that the shoutbox does not exist anymore. It has been removed completely. We will simply have to find another solution for chatting on the forums. Probably a remotely-hosted one (this sucks, since they are all annoying and ad-laden).

Another option is to move to a VPS. This will cost me at least four times what I am currently paying for the site. More if I want someone to do the core sysadmin stuff for me, since I'm not really that good with Linux.

I apologize for the downtime. At least it wasn't a complete loss of everything we had, like the MXG crashes.
